Acupuncture is an effective and holistic healing system that combines the stimulation of various points on the body with other Chinese medicine treatment therapies, such as cupping, nutritional support, herbal treatments and tui na (Chinese orthopedic massage), in order to relieve pain, discomfort, and other symptoms of illness.

All components of Chinese Medicine help to stimulate various biological responses throughout the body to improve overall vitality and well-being. More specifically, these treatments primarily target and activate the nervous and endocrine system. This leads to a release of chemicals (i.e. neurotransmitters and hormones) that trigger the parasympathetic nervous system and boost the immune response in the body.

Exercise like Qi Gong and Tai Chi also work with traditional acupuncture techniques to further heal the body, mind and spirit. The more our patients follow nutritional, lifestyle and exercise advice, the more successful the treatment. We offer dietary advice along with Chinese herbs, cupping, gua sha, and Tibetan Foot Soaks at our office along with acupuncture.

Success of acupuncture depends, to a large degree, on the skill and talent of the individual practitioner. Everyone has their own style but it's an art to handle the needles in a way that makes treatments not only virtually pain free, but successful in treating various conditions. Acupuncture is also holistic in that it works with the patient to help them achieve control of their health. Treatments are a collaborative effort, requiring commitment to one's well-being on the part of both the practitioner and the patient.
